ORDA, an acronym for the Oda Research and Development
Association, draws inspiration from the Oda and Çınar trees, which symbolize
deep socio-political values in Ethiopia and Türkiye, respectively. These trees,
known for their longevity and resilience, represent the continuity between the
past and the future. They teach the importance of patience, wisdom in
co-existence, and the need to contribute meaningfully to one another.
ORDA is dedicated to empowering Ethiopian students in
Türkiye and beyond by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to address
the challenges within their communities. Through research, projects, and
development programs, the association aims to drive long-term, transformative
change in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia, the world's oldest independent nation, holds a unique place in both African and global history. Home to over 80 distinct ethnic groups, it is the second most populous country in Africa, with a population exceeding 100 million, second only to Nigeria. Notably, Ethiopia stands as the only African country that has never been colonized.
In the context of the world’s Abrahamic religions, Ethiopia plays a significant role. It is mentioned 45 times in the Bible and is the historic site of the first Hijra in Islam. Addis Ababa, the nation's capital, is regarded as the "capital and diplomatic hub of Africa" and hosts numerous international organizations, including the African Union and the Pan-African Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Despite Ethiopia’s position as the fastest-growing economy in Africa, many of its citizens face significant hardships. Widespread displacement, illiteracy, drought, and famine—particularly affecting women and children—remain pressing issues.
In response to these challenges, the establishment of ORDA (Oda Research and Development Association) is of critical importance. Through a focus on research and development, ORDA aims to help reverse the cycle of poverty and improve the quality of life for Ethiopians, addressing these challenges with sustainable solutions.
We invite individuals, organizations, and institutions to join us in our mission to uplift and empower Ethiopia through development and research-driven initiatives.
